1.0 We Resolve Family Conflict (Mt. 5:9!)
1.1 Conflicts are found in every area of life.
A) Conflict is a disagreement; a differing of opinion, will, and perspective.
B) Conflicts have torn families and relationships apart.
1. There are some people who've not spoken to families members in years.
2. We must learn how to resolve conflicts in every area of life-work, home, school, and in the church.
C) We've never been taught how to resolve conflicts in a way that heals the family.
1. You will be taught 4 simple and practical steps to resolving conflicts.
Matthew 5:9-''Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.''
2. A peacekeeper is not the same as a peacemaker.
Example: To keep peace mom says to Sarah: ''Stop hitting your sister or you'll be grounded for a week! Sarah stops because of the fear of punishment. The underlying problem is not resolved; just suppressed.
3. Peacemaking occurs when the underlying causes of the conflict are resolved. Peacekeeping is civility.
4. Right now, the UN has peacekeeping missions in 15 different countries on four continents. This consists of civilian, armed police, and military personnel tasked to keep peace.
5. So, let's understand peacemaking.
1.2 Peacemakers are bona fide children of God!
A) Jesus declares peacemakers to be ''children of God.'' This is a proof of their conversion and shared value with the Father.
B) Being a follower of Jesus gives you the DNA to make peace in your family and other important relationships.
James 3:18-''People who work for peace in a peaceful way plant a good crop of right-living.''
2.0 4 Steps to Resolving Family Conflict.
2.1 Step 1: REVERENCE God.
A) Reverence means to glorify, respect, honor, and recognize God in your midst.
1 Corinthians 10:31-''When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honor God.''
