LOVING OUR CITY TO CHRIST (8 of 8)
HIGH VOLTAGE LOVE
(An exposition and application of 1st Corinthians 13)
Dr. Rick E. Ferguson
1 Corinthians 13:1-13, John 15:13, 1 John 3:16

INTRODUCTION: How many of you absolutely love Denver
Colorado?

I have probably said it more than a thousand times--
how much I love Denver Colorado.

Some days...

- When I look out and see the majestic Rocky
Mountains, and

- I look into a cloudless blue sky, and

- It is 80 degrees with 15% humidity

I just pray a prayer and say, "Thank you Lord that I
don't live in Texas or Missouri any longer! Thank you
Lord, that You would allow me to live in such an
incredible place!"

How many of you have prayed a similar prayer?

NOW LET ME ASK YOU ANOTHER QUESTION, "Do you really
love Denver Colorado?"

Some of you are thinking "Pastor, that is the same
question!"

No, it is not the same question. Because what I mean
by THIS question is this,

"DO YOU LOVE THIS CITY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS CITY
WITH AUTHENTIC, GODLY, HIGH-VOLTAGE, BIBLICAL LOVE?"

Do you love this city the way Jesus loved the capital
city of His generation?

- Jesus cried and prayed over the spiritual condition

Matt 23:37
37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the
prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How
often I wanted to gather your children together, as a
hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were
not willing!
(NKJ)

this "Do you really love Denver?"

- I'm not talking about loving the amenities Denver
has to offer that make it such a fantastic place to
live That is selfish, shallow love.

- I believe what God is really interested in knowing
today is whether we really love Denver and its people
with a genuine, self-sacrificing, giving, biblical
kind of love.

The pressing question is, do we love this city enough
that we want to do ...
