'Because He Lives...I can face tomorrow'. There is no doubt Darla knew this truth, believed this truth, and experienced this truth. And I got to see it in her eyes for myself. I was honored be able to visit with Darla and Gary in their home about a week ago. She was weak and weary. They both knew the end was very near. In those kind of moments as a pastor, I always want to assess where people is mentally, emotionally, spiritually so that I can minister to them and care for them as specifically as I can. So, I sat down next to her bed, held her hand, and asked her question I've asked many others. I said, ''Darla, are you worried, or nervous, or afraid?'' She looked me right in the eye and said, ''Not at all Pastor Bob. Not at all. I've got peace.'' Then, in one of the sweetest moments I can remember as a pastor in a time like that, she looked over at Gary, and gave a little smile, and a tear in her eye she said, ''We've both got peace. It's going to be ok.''

It was one of the warmest, most tender moments I've experienced as a pastor. I would even call it a holy moment. Darla knew what was about to happen to her, but she knew something that was much better than that... she knew Who was coming to get her. And she was content in that. She had peace.

That moment has been going over and over in my mind, and this morning I got to my office at 5:00 still wrestling with what the Lord would have me say today. I was flipping through Darla's bible. I have to tell you...it was fascinating. This bible and the things in it definitely tells you what kind of person Darla was. Those of you who knew Darla, know that she was a type A person who was organized and detailed. And you can see that in her bible.

I was looking through it, and happen to come across my name. She had written down my name and the date of my first sermon at First Baptist Harvester, and the title of the sermon. But that wasn't all...she even recorded the pe ...
