I've known Bucky for almost nine years. Every Sunday he would make sure to greet me. Never a handshake. Always a hug. He called me his personal 'Apostle Paul'. No one had ever called me that. I'm pretty sure no one else will.

There was one thing about Bucky that I'll never forget, but as I thought about how to say this, I'm not exactly sure how to do it. When he looked at me, it was almost as if nothing else in the world mattered to him. He was looking at me. He was interested in me. He was talking to me. The way he looked at me, it was almost as if his eyes were saying, 'I care about you. I love you. You matter.' I talk to a lot of people all the time. I don't know if I've ever felt like that with another person.

One of the things that he would want everyone to be reminded of today is that he wasn't perfect. He didn't always do everything or say everything the right way. Today, he wouldn't want people to think he was perfect, but he would want people to remember he was forgiven.

Did you know that good people don't go to heaven? Do you know why? Because there aren't any. There are no truly good people. Do you know who does go to heaven? Forgiven people. People who have graciously received the forgiveness of God by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and turning away from their sin.

The reason I know that Bucky knew this and believed this is because he told others about this. Bucky was an evangelist of sorts. Like most things, he did it in a very unique way. He loved to give away pennies. But they weren't any kind of pennies. They were pennies with a cross cut out of the middle of them. I'm curious...how many of you were given one of these by him? Yeah, me too.

One day, he pulled me aside and said, ''I have something to give you that's very important to me.'' I said, ''Ok.'' He peered at me with those eyes, and said, ''I want you to know that God loves you. He loves you.'' Know remember...I' ...
