He wields a mighty scepter,
On lower powers than he.

Man from his throne has hurled,

On May 9, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially designated the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Ever since that day, we are told that more cards and telephone calls are made on Mother's Day than any other holiday.
The great British preacher G. Campbell Morgan was once at lunch with his wife and 5 sons, who were all preachers. A friend stopped by their table, and in the course of the conversation asked them, ''Who is the greatest preacher?'' In unison, and without hesitation, the 6 men said, ''Our mother.''
The introduction to 1 Samuel is the most heart-wrenching stories in the Bible. It involves a lady by the name of Hannah who was facing a set of the most undesirable circumstances one could imagine. Yet, when it was all said and done, she experienced a Mother's Day miracle.
his passage is often used in connection to a baby dedication, but I want us to look at it from the standpoint of this lady who so desperately wanted to experience a Mother's Day miracle.
