John 11:25-26

Turn in your bibles to John 11:25-26. Today on this Retro Resurrection Sunday we're talking about 'Stayin Alive'. And I thought it might be fun and kind of neat to see how many of you remember back to 1977 when this song skyrocketed to #1 (play short clip of Stayin Alive). Anyone remember much about their life when that song hit it big? To be honest, I don't. I was only 9 years old at the time and wasn't allowed to listen to music like that. But that song is called 'Stayin Alive' by the Bee Gees. You just can't help but love a man with a falsetto voice, right? I mean, that's the STUFF!

Now I've heard that song a number of times over the years, but you know what? I had no idea what the words were except for 'ha, ha, ha, ha, stayin alive, stayin alive', that's it. Anyone else have any clue what they're singing in that song? Well, I decided I'd looked it up because I have an inquiring mind and I want to know what the BeeGees have to say about stayin alive. Listen to these powerful, inspirational, life changing lyrics (READ LYRICS).

(Pound on chest) Wow, gets you right there doesn't it? They just don't write them like they used to. With all kidding aside and with all due respect to the Bee Gees, I don't think they have a clue about what stayin alive is all about. Do you?

Now, I want to read you some words of the Person who knows the secret to stayin alive. And the reason that I believe He does know what He's talking about is because He rose from the dead 2,000 years ago and we're still talking about it. He's name, of course, is Jesus Christ. He's the One were here to worship and to celebrate. And the awesome thing is that He wants you and I to know how to stay alive! He wants you and I to experience the power of the resurrection just like Him. So how do I stay alive? How do I experience resurrection?
