Easter: King Jesus
Bob Ingle
Revelation 1:18
Open to Rev. 1. You know, we started the service singing that old song ''How Great Thou Art''. Isn't that a great song? My favorite part is where it builds up and shouts out 'Then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee'. Then sings my soul. Not 'then sings my mouth', 'then sings my mom', 'then sings my church'. It's my soul. It's the core, it's the center, it's the essence of who I am that sings out to Almighty God how great and how wonderful He is and how much I love Him.
Let me ask you this morning...are you crazy consumed with God? I mean like obsessed with God? Could that be said of you? Not do you believe in God. Not even do you love God. I mean are you obsessed with, devoted to, earnestly gripped by the glory, and majesty, and power of Almighty God? Because when it really comes down to it...what else really matters, right? 1,000 years from today you are still going to be alive-not your body-but your soul. And the only thing that will matter 1,000 years from today is whether or not you are with this God that we worship today. That's it. Nothing else will matter.
And that's what this awesome thing we call Easter is all about. We celebrate openly, vigorously, and joyously that God has made a way through His Son Jesus Christ to be with Him forever. He's made a way to be fully forgiven of our wretched sin, and to be clean before a Holy God, and we have the supreme confidence that when this life is over we are going to be with God in His perfect Kingdom. Amen?
Now, let me be candid and honest with you this morning. Easter is a stressful time for me just like most preachers. I love it. I really do. But it's stressful. And it's mostly self-induced stress because every Easter I say to myself, ''Ok, this is it. This is high attendance Sunday. This is the Christian Super Bowl. This is where the crowds show up. This is when the people who aren't normally here are here.''
Let's be honest, I won't see some of y ...
