1 Chronicles 1- 1 Chronicles 17

Day 120 April 30 - 1 Chronicles 1 and 2

The first chapter of Chronicles deals with many of those men that we read about in the first nine chapters of Genesis. In the genealogies we will see that it lists the father and all of his male children, the rejected line is listed and then the selected bloodline that will be traced all the way through the bible until it gets to Jesus Christ.

Point to Ponder

The bloodline begins with Adam and then it moves to Seth (Sheth) and down to Noah. The three sons of Noah are listed in the genealogies with Ham and Japheth being the rejected bloodline and Shem being the selected bloodline. The selected bloodline of Shem was his son Arphaxad, followed by Shelah, followed by Eber, Peleg, Reu, Serug, Nahor, Terah, and then Abraham.

The first nine chapters of 1 Chronicles deals with genealogies and we will read about 886 male names, 25 female names, and 25 names that deal with a nation or a certain group of people. This has absolutely nothing to do with this study other than to show you that one can create all kinds of ''codes'' in reading the bible.

Point to Ponder

I did find one interesting fact in looking at the genealogies of Matthew chapter 1, as follows: ''Roboam begat Abia - where we see a bad father begat a bad son. Then we see that Abia begat Asa - where we see a bad father begat a good son. We then see how Asa begat Josophat - where ...
