What You Should Bring to Church (Worship) Part 1
William Wyne
Habakkuk 2:17-18
Ray Kroc was an America entrepreneur who literally made the Golden Arch a household name in America. He is the one that made McDonalds the chain that it is today.
Ray discovered the small restaurant in California that was owned by Dick and Mac McDonald. He went into business with them and began to broaden the operations of this single restaurant. He bought the two brothers out of business and became the sole owner. It was just a matter of time that Ray began to open other McDonalds in various places and began to brand the restaurant (Golden Arches) with an operational system.
In his very early years of expansion, he shared how he decided where new locations of McDonalds could go. He said, that he and his staff would get on the company plane and fly over certain communities, and he was always looking for steeples. He wanted to ensure that his McDonalds were located where churches were in a specific radius. Because he believed, churches meant families and kids, and outings. But he said, there was something about getting up and above in the air, and looking at steeples below, he would seem to hear God speaking to him when he was above it all. He said, he seems to get directives and directions when he was above it all.
You know that to me is an aspect of the power and a sense of the purpose of worship. Worship helps us to get above, to get over, and put some stuff under us, at least while we worship God. Worship helps us to get above what we are surrounded by! It helps us get out of what we may be deep within! It helps us to get away from what will not always get away from us.
Worship can be seen as a time where we shut out the clamor that you hear day by day, it's a time when you aim at insuring your focus is focused on worship. Worship is when you are laser focused on God, and you.
