Series: 365 Day Journey Through the Bible
Joshua 5 - Judges 2
Day 71 March 12 - Joshua 5, 6, 7, and 8
This is the second mandated circumcision that we find in the bible. God told Abraham to circumcise all that were within his family. Before Israel begins their military campaigns God expects them to honor his previous commandment and become that peculiar nation. This was a token between God and Israel and it was ritual that set them apart. This rite was so serious that God would have killed Moses or his son as they were leaving the plains of Midian and heading to Egypt. The wife of Moses was not a Jew and she did not deem the rite of circumcision to be important, but God deemed it very important and almost killed his servant before his service even began.

The rod of Moses exemplified his ''The Shepherd of Israel'' and the spear of Joshua exemplified him as ''The Soldier of Israel.'' Moses was a meek leader and Joshua would be a mighty fighter. The beauty of serving God is that none of us are alike and God has different paths for us to travel down. We are to be mindful of his calling and obedient to that calling.
I - Circumcision and Visitors (Joshua 5)
II - Conquest and Victory (Joshua 6)
III - Cursing and Vulnerability (Joshua 7)
IV - Conquering and Valor (Joshua 8)
Point to Ponder
Joshua will become a mighty military general and Israel will have victory after victory as he leads them through the Land of Promise. The soldiers march around Jericho 1 time per day for 6 days and on the 7th day they march 7 times and they overtake the city.
Point to Ponder
The victories that we achieve come from the power and presence of the Lord. We are to faithfully follow him and seek his guidance and in doing that we can conquer the Jericho's that are in our pat ...
