There is a new game show on during primetime television called ''Ellen's Game of Games.'' Contestants are put through the paces in a series of ridiculous games to earn the right to compete for $100,000 in the finale. The games span the gamut of absurdity and hilarity.

In one game the contestants are strapped by seatbelts into two chairs. They are asked a question and then the platform on which the chairs are anchored begins to quickly spin after they stop the contestants are forced to race in a dizzy stupor to grab a ball from a stand and then answer the question correctly. Another game has contestants blindfolded and dangling over a vat of mashed-potatoes and gravy. With every wrong answer they are plunged into messy mash. Three trips into the dip and you are disqualified. Then at the end the remaining 4 contestants are placed on a 37' high platform. With every wrong answer they disappear as the trap door opens underneath them and they plunge 3 stories into who knows what.

It's a fun show but I enjoy watching the excitement on the contestants faces as they are called, a la Price is Right, from the audience. These people are thrilled to meet Ellen and excited about being embarrassed and frightened to death on national television for the chance to win $100,000. They have been chosen.

There is something exciting about being chosen to be a part of something fun, special or spectacular.

As believers the Bible repeatedly teaches us that we have been chosen by God.
- I am not troubled by that truth even though I cannot fully understand or reconcile it with what I consider to be the plain teaching of Scripture about man's responsibility.
- Rather than ring the bell of worry it sounds the notes of worship.
- That truth brings assurance because it means my life and eternity rests in the hands of a supremely sovereign, perfectly righteous, unendingly gracious, ...
