Funeral Sermon – Waiting but not Wilting
Donald Cantrell
Job 14: 14
Job 14:1 KJV - Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Job 14:7 KJV - For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Job 14:14 KJV - If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Theme: “The affliction and anticipation of a saint that died”

Life is but a Stopping Place
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord

In the midst of his pain and deep affliction, he patiently waited upon God and refused to wilt or waver in his faith. In these types of situations I find confirmation that God’s grace is truly sufficient.
The other day my granddaughter and I were eating at CiCi’s Pizza and Kinsley was looking at all of the food and said “Poppy, how did God make all of this food?” I laughed and tried to talk to her little five year old inquisitive mind and tell her about how food is prepared. Then we were out one night and she looked up into the clear nighttime sky and said “Poppy, how did the man get upon the moon?” At that point I wanted to refer her to the insurance guy on the TV commercials ...
