Deuteronomy 17-Joshua 4
Day 64 March 5 - Deuteronomy 17, 18, 19, and 20
In biblical days they were not to tolerate the mere presence of wickedness or the worship of false gods. If this was observed among the people of Israel they were to expose the sin and upon investigation those that were wicked and evildoers would be brought before the people and they would be stoned. The law was set up with very stern principles and it could not be one person's word against another. There had to be more than one witness, at least two and preferably three or more before a person could be stoned. Then the witnesses had to be the first ones to lay hold of them or to cast the first stone.
Point to Ponder
Looking into the future God knew that Israel would want to be like all the other nations and that they would desire to have a king. God forewarns them of the consequences of having a king to rule over them. The Lord also tells them that king is to have a copy of ''His Word'' and to keep it before his throne and read it continually so as to lead Israel in the right direction.

In chapter nineteen Moses directs Israel once again as to the selection of three more cities of refuge. These cities were to be located on the other side of Jordan, once they conquered the land. If they conquered enough of the land there might be a need for three extra cities, which would still be determined.

Upon possessing this new land, the families would establish boundaries and landmarks to properly divide up the land. This land would be passed down from generation to generation and the landmarks would ensure the true boundaries of each section of land. The landmarks may have ...
