The Finances of Abraham
Dr. Rick E. Ferguson

Genesis 14:17-15:1

In our study of the book of Genesis we will
examine the lives of some of the greatest men of
faith who ever lived. We will learn about men
who were mighty in spirit. We've already studied
the life of Adam, Able and Noah; now we will
take another look into the life of Abraham, a
man of great faith.

You will remember that we have looked at--

(1) The faith of Abraham (Genesis 12) and

(2) The failures of Abraham (Genesis 12-13).

Now today I want us to study the finances of
Abraham... yes this is going to be a message on
money.

Now before you turn me off and say--Oh no
another message on money--let me share with you
that it has been over three years since I
preached a message on money.

churches think about is money.

Ex. The world's opinion of preachers is like
that of a teenage girl I heard about. She
was trying to impress her father by
describing all the positive attributes of
her new boyfriend. She told her dad
everything she could possibly think of
about this boyfriend that was good. She
finally said, "Dad, I know you'll like
Tom. He's a very nice young man." In an
obviously unimpressed manner the father
responded, "Does he have any money?" The
exasperated daughter responded, "You men
are all like. Tom asked the very same
thing about you."

The fact of the matter is, dear folks, it is
impossible to talk about faith and not talk
about finances.
