Numbers 35- Deuteronomy 16

Day 57 February 26 - Numbers 35 and 36

The Levites were chosen by the Lord to work in the tabernacle and they were not treated like all of the other tribes. The Levites were strictly supported by the other tribes as they gave gifts, offerings, and tributes to God. Upon entering into the Land of Canaan the 8 ½ tribes that would possess the land were to give some of their cities to the Levites. The Levites were chosen and separated to God rather than the firstborn of the land. The Levites belonged to God and he would see to it that they were cared for in every way. Each of these cities could be reached in one day's journey and they were to be clearly marked with no impediments along the path. The roads would be repaired annually and signs would be placed to show the manslayer the way to the city.
