Day 50 February 19 - Numbers 18, 19, and 20

The beauty of the bible is that it does not hide the flaws or the failures of its key players and stars. Noah was exposed on the biblical landscape in his drunkenness. Abraham was highlighted for his lack of faith and trust in God as he slips off into Egypt and tries to help God by conceiving a son with Hagar. Jacob was a scheme and a trickster and the list can go on and on if we want to see all of the flaws and failures of God's chosen ones.

Point to Ponder

The children of Israel must have taken the ''death sentence'' that God had imposed upon them either as a joke or literally, in that they still have no regard of his holiness or his judgment. They come to the Wilderness of Zin and once again they confront God's man with murmuring and complaining. I am amazed at the ''ignorance'' of these people due to the fact that bodies had been strewn all over the land of Egypt and throughout the wilderness of those that rebelled against God. Is there not a point that even the most rebellious or most ignorant among us would not hesitate rebelling and murmuring. I have never witnessed a group of people that were so foreign to fearing God or revering him than this group of people. The Lord had just slain 250 of the rebellious leaders and another 14,700 more of those that had murmured.

Point to Ponder

The people are thirsty but they have no remembrance of God previously giving them water, giving them manna, giving them quail, and proving himself to be mighty in their very midst. They had the gall to once again complain and murmur to Moses.
