INTRODUCTION

- Lied about it.
- Forced everyone of my classmates to be individually interrogated.
- One of them was weak, and gave me up.
- Brought to principal's office... I continued to deny it.
- My mother came to my rescue... Like a good mother. She was doing her job, and believing in her son... Having my back... I was betraying her, by taking advantage of her support, and making a fool of her.
- Because the majority of my class didn't rat me out... They were punished as well.
- A field trip to the zoo was cancelled.
- My stunt had humiliated my mom... Cost my classmates a field trip. Embarrassed a good teacher.
- When I finally had nothing left to do, but confess... I found myself sitting in an in-school suspension classroom, watching my peers stare at me with anger from their lunch table...
- For probably the first time in my life, I came face to face with my depravity.
- I thought.... ''Oh my God. What have I done!?''
- True shame... True guilt came over me.
- Since then, there have been moments like this... Some much worse... Deeply ashamed of my sin.
- I know you have as well...
- In Psalm 51, King David teaches us where to turn in those moments.

CONTEXT
This Psalm is a song of repentance written by David after what is the greatest failure of his life.
(2 Samuel 11-12)
The army of Israel was at war. All the men of Israel had gone out to battle. David stays home. (Which is rare. Uncharacteristically cowardly of David-Kings typically fought with their men)
- Here he is.... In the city, all the men are gone. Women everywhere.
- Out on his roof one night... Sees Bathsheba. Bathing. Naked. He becomes attracted to her.
- Not looking to love her. Or care for her... Just wants to use her.
