INTRODUCTION
I've been in pastoral ministry for a little less than a decade so far. But in that time, I have attended a number of funerals for church members and people connected to the church. I've had the honor of preaching a number of those funerals.
- So I've heard a number of eulogies. I've given a number of eulogies.
- The best eulogies for Christians do two things:
- First, they honor and celebrate the person who has died. How they affected others.
- Secondly, and more importantly, they point the people in attendance beyond the deceased and point them to God.
- This is certainly what I would like for my funeral one day. That people will talk about how my life pointed beyond me to someone greater.
We have been studying the life of David for a few months now... And today we come to the end. I want to set up our time together today as if I am giving a eulogy for King David.
- I want to summarize what we've learned about his life and how his life points us to God.
David's death is recorded in 1 KINGS 2
