[4] Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. [5] Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; [6] do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
[8] Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. [9] What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
INTRODUCTION
It's the most wonderful time of the year. That's what they tell us. But for most of us, it is the most wonderfully stressful time of the year.
- The pressure of finding the perfect gift for someone.
-Planning the perfect party. Trying to get your decorations to look just like what you see on Pinterest. Send Christmas cards.
- Travel plans. I was talking to one of our church members who is flying out of LGA on Christmas Eve (already having mild anxiety over the thought of it).
- Maybe you have family visiting the city, and you are trying to figure out where to fit everyone in your small apartment.
- Our city becomes congested with tourists. Makes it hard to get to work. Find a seat on the train.
- Not the mention all the financial costs of the holiday.
- Or for those of you without close family relationships, this holiday can be a reminder of your loneliness.
