Ephesians 6:10-20

Introduction:

Last week, we began a study on the topic of spiritual warfare.

For many, this topic may seem odd... But I think that the events in our nation this week remind us that perhaps it is much more relevant than we could have imagined.

We were reminded again this week... 3 days in a row. That we live in a world where there is evil, injustice, fear, violence, racism, misunderstanding, lack of empathy.

Two black men and five cops lost their lives this week... All of which were unnecessary deaths.

Alton Sterling, Philando Castille, and the slain officers in Dallas (as well as all of their families...) Have acutely felt this week, the effects of the fall.

These were people, each of which made in the image of God, whose lives were cut short due to the prevalence of sin in our world.

Last week we covered that... Satan is a real being. He is out to steal, kill, and destroy. Hinder us. Rob our joy. At any cost....

I believe that The Enemy would love nothing more than the events of this week to further divide our nation, our churches. I believe he wants to politicize this issue, so that we can easily take sides and not take responsibility for the injustice and oppression in our nation.

But I also believe that God wants us to stand for what is right. To stand with the oppressed. He wants the church to lead the way in fighting for justice and reconciliation.

So perhaps this study is more relevant than we think. How do we fight against the enemy's attacks on our joy, on our unity, and on our people who are oppressed under systems of injustice?

How do we fight these things with the hope of the gospel?
