Salvation Is Irreversible
Rick Ferguson

Ephesians 1:13-14

We began talking last week about the Biblical doctrine of the security of the believer. We said that the believer was secure because of:

I. THE PREDESTINATION OF GOD.

II. THE PURPOSE OF GOD.

III. THE PRAISE OF GOD. For Ephesians 1:11b-12 says

"We have an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will, (12) that we should be to the praise of his glory who first trusted in Christ."

I believe, because of these reasons, when a man is genuinely born again, he can never, ever again become lost. If he can. then God's plan of pre- destination is interrupted, His purpose is hindered and His praise is removed. To say a man who has been saved by the blood of Christ can be lost again is to question the integrity of God, it is to call God an inept God, it is to call Him a liar and it is to say that the blood of Christ is powerless over sin. What a dreadful theological error it is to question the doctrine of once saved-always saved.

Tonight as we move further into Ephesians 1 we will discover more reasons why I believe in the security of the believer. Tonight we will see why I say that SALVATION IS IRREVERSIBLE.

TEXT

A man once asked me, "Do you really believe in that once saved-always saved stuff?" I said, "I surely do!" He said, "You mean to tell me you believe a man can get saved in your church then go out and kill and murder and rob and still go to heaven?"
