My wife and I have become bird watchers. We have humming birds, indigo buntings, doves, finches, woodpeckers, cardinals, brown thrashers, hawks, wrens and sparrows, just to name a few. One of the wrens built a nest in my weed eater that is hanging over some wire in my garage. I did not have the heart to take it down. So, I cater to the bird by making sure it has an escape route.

One can learn a lot from the birds. I am amazed at the number of people in the Bible who were bird watchers. Birds are mentioned not as factual information, but presented to us based on lessons that these individuals learned from their bird watching.

Job had friends who weren't very friendly. They thought they knew more about his problems than he did. There were much harder to endure than his shingles. In Job 12:7-9 he answers his critics. ''But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?''
