Week 2 Day 8 - Genesis 25 and 26
Abraham would have been around 137 years old at the time of Sarah's death. One thing to ponder about Sarah is that she is the only woman in the bible where we are given information about her age, her death, and her burial. The bible honors Sarah and she was vital to the ministry of her husband. Upon the death of Sarah and after finding a wife for his son, Isaac; we find that Abraham is ready to marry again.
Point to Ponder
Abraham marries Keturah and she brings forth six boys to the mighty ''Patriarch of Israel.'' Though Abraham was blessed with Ishmael, The son of Hagar, and Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah, the sons of Keturah, he leaves all of his possessions to his son of ''promise'' and that was ''Isaac'' the son of Rebekah. Let us not forget that Abraham did not even have any sons until he was well up in years. At the time of his death, when he was 75 years old, Abraham will leave behind a legacy of eight sons'. The linage of this man will birth many nations, kings, and his seed will be prominent throughout the pages of the bible and throughout history.

Ishmael was a type of trusting in the flesh, whereas Isaac was a type of trusting in the faith. Ishmael lived to be 137 years old and was present at the death of his father, along beside his half brother Isaac. Each of us has to deal with our own Ishmael's and Isaac's as we live our Christian life. The two must dwell together and there will always be a constant battle to see which one will be in control.
