Sheila wanted to go to church. She had not been in a long time. She wanted to hear some music and a sermon. The preacher preached a sermon on Peter's mother-in-law got sick with a fever. It was not exactly what she wanted to hear.

She went to her mother's church hoping to hear a sermon that would meet her needs. The same pastor had agreed to supply in this country church. He preached on Peter's mother-in-law got sick with a fever.

She was spiritually unsatisfied and decided to give it one more chance at the hospital chapel. Guess who the supply preacher was? Guess what the sermon was?

The next morning, she went to the bus stop to go to work. She sat down on a bench and this same preacher sat down beside her. An ambulance came by with sirens screaming. The preacher used this as a conversation starter, ''I wonder who is in there?'' She said, ''I guess it is Peter's mother-in-law. She was sick with a fever all day yesterday!''

-I guess the preacher thought that was a good sermon.

One thing I have learned is that sermons mean different things to different people. Sermons are unique.

-It was the churches of Europe that lit the fires for freedom. The pulpit holds out a candle of hope for w world in bondage.
