The Definitive Statement on Revival
Rex Yancey
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Revival comes from two Latin words. Re means again, and vive means live. So revival means to live again. We have a fire place at home. I enjoy watching the flames. However, sometimes the flame dies out and all I can see is coals and smoke. I either need to add fuel to the fire or fan the coals to see the flame again.
The same thing can happen to us as Christians. The flame dies out. The coals can lose their red glow. About all the evidence we have that there was once a fire is that there is a little smoke showing.
This can happen to an individual, to a church, and to a nation.
The nation of Israel experienced times of prosperity and times of poverty. America has a strong economy and then a weak economy. We turn to God after the Great Depression. We turned to God during World War 2. We turned to God after 9/11. However, when some time elapses we settle back into our lethargic position.
What is the key to revival? The key to revival is the people of God. Are you a part of God's family? You are if you have been born again. The Bible tells us to examine ourselves to see if we be in the faith. Revival will not come from outside the people of God.

1.There is the problem of pride. People in need of humility are people who have a problem with pride. Israel was proud beyond justification. They thought that since tghey were the chosen people of God they should be immuned from all problems. They weren't.
-Proverbs 16:18 says, ''Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.'' If we are not careful pride will lead us to the sin of presumption.
-The story is told of a certan Texan who traveled about the countyr. Every time he saw a grand sight, he commented that Texas had something bigger and better. At Niagra Falls another man, who had heard all the bragging he could stand said, ''I suppose you have something like this in Texas!'' ...
