Let's open our bibles to 1 Cor. 7. One thing is for sure about every person in this room: You are either single or you are married. Now some of you are almost single because you are getting divorced. Some of you are almost married because you are engaged. But ALMOST doesn't count does it? It's like being almost pregnant. It's just not the same. All of us are either married or single.

Now, I suspect some here would like to be in the opposite group they're currently in. Maybe you're single, but you want to be married. It burdens you that you haven't found and married Miss America or Mr. Wonderful. Or maybe you're married, but wish you were single again. Like the third grade boy took a history exam and the final question was, ''Who was Patrick Henry?'' The little boy wrote, ''Patrick Henry was the man who got married and then said, 'Give me liberty or give me death.''' Maybe you can identify with that.

Within the church there seems to be a constant state of having single people who are in confusion and married people who are in conflict. You have singles who are depressed because they are not married, and married people who are depressed because they are.

Well, apparently this is nothing new. The Corinthian church had the same stuff going on. Look at V27: ''Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife.'' Singles wanting in and marrieds wanting out. But what does Paul say? Be content with where you currently are. There is to be a contentedness, there is to be a joy, there is to be an appreciation of where the Lord currently has you because the truth is if you aren't content as a single person, you won't be content as a married person. If you aren't content married person, you will not be content single person. Why? Because contentment doesn't come from your outward circumstances. Contentme ...
