ENTERING THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE (7 of 15)
GROWING CLOSER AND GOING DEEPER WITH GOD
Dr. Rick E. Ferguson
EPHESIANS 5:18
Series Verse: BUT GROW IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE OF
OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST (2 PETER 3:18).
Question: Have you ever been filled with the Holy
Spirit?
Question: Are you filled with the Holy Spirit right
now?
Question: Are you consistently experiencing:
- Supernatural Power?
- Spiritual Authority?
- Unconventional Wisdom?
- Uncontainable Joy?
Question: Do you ever suspect something is missing in
your Christian life?
Question: Do you feel like you are serving a distant
King? God is out there somewhere, but He is not
really up close and personal with you?
Question: Do you have spurts of victory and
inspiration, but they are sporadic and inconsistent?
Question: Does it ever bother you as you read the New
Testament, and the experiences of the 1st Century
church, that it is blatantly obvious that our
Christian experience does not seem to be as exciting?
Question: Does it disturb you that compared to the
early church, we seem to be dwarfed and impotent in
spiritual power and authority?
Does that bother you? It bothers me. Sometimes
it bothers me a lot. It especially troubles me when I
hear of other people and places in the world where the
Christian community is experiencing unusual
outpourings of God's Spirit, and the manifestations of
the Spirit's outpouring are very, very similar to
those witnessed in the New Testament.
Why are they experiencing the full release of
God's Holy Spirit, and we are not?
Someone once described our spiritual anemia
saying, "Most Christians have become so SUBNORMAL, if
one ever got to be NORMAL, everyone would thing he/she
is ABNORMAL."
I don't know about you, but I am tired of living
a subnormal Christian life.
I've been preaching a series of messages
entitled, "Growing Closer and Going Deeper With God."
