Genesis 3:14-15

Open your bibles please to Genesis 3. Since I was little, I have heard this statement countless times: ''Let's put Christ back into Christmas.''

Many Christians for a long time have felt that Christmas just doesn't carry the meaning and importance that it should. But, honestly, I'm not sure it ever did.

For instance, did you know that in 1659, Christmas was abolished by the Massachusetts Bay Colonies because there was too much drinking and carousing go on? Christmas did not resume in the American colonies for another 22 years until it was reinstituted in 1681. The truth is Christ hasn't been the total focus or sole motivation of Christmas for a very, very long time in our country.

But while we can't control what everyone else in the world thinks about, focuses on, and rejoices over this Christmas...we still get to control what we think about, and what we focus on, and what we rejoice over this holiday season, right? So, let's forget about getting angry and upset that world just doesn't understand Christmas; and let's choose to set our minds and hearts in the right place. Let's stop chasing the Christmas feelings the world says are important, and let's remember the Christmas facts that God's Word says are important. Today we start a three-part series called 'Anticipating Christmas'. This will help us refocus our thinking and realign our hearts with what Scripture says Christmas is all about.

But the fact is the NEED for Christmas and PROMISE of Christmas are revealed the all the way back in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 3 records what is commonly called the fall of man. ...
