GOD IS SPEAKING TO YOU (1 of 8)
LISTENING TO GOD
REV. 13:9 "HE WHO HAS AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR."
Dr. Rick E. Ferguson
PSALM 81:8-16
Question: Let me ask you some probing questions
today...
1) How do you discern God's will over particular
matters in your life?
2) When you pray and ask God for direction in a
particular area of your life--how do you hear God's
voice and get that direction?
3) How do you know how to pray about specific issues
in your life?
4) Does God ever speak to you?
5) If so, how does God speak to you?
6) How do you distinguish between God's voice and
other voices you may be hearing including your own
thoughts?
Ex: I sometimes have people say to me, "I would do
what God wants me to do if only He would speak to me
and tell me what He wants!"
And my immediate response to them is twofold...
1) If God does speak to you--are you really
listening?
2) If God does speak to you--how will you know it is
Him?
Today I want to begin a new series of messages that
will hopefully answer some of these questions for you.
I want to begin a series entitled, "Listening to God."
Now when you think about it--this is pretty BASIC
CHRISTIANITY!

*Do God's will for your life
*Seek God in your decision
*Do whatever God tells you to do
And that all sounds well and good. We tell someone,
"Do whatever God tells you to do." BUT we never tell
them:
*How to hear God's voice
*How to recognize God's voice
*How to listen to God
How can anyone possibly do what God tells them to do--
without being able to hear and recognize God's voice.
If you don't know how to listen to God--you will never
know what He may be telling you to do.
Oh, how I wish someone would have taught me:
*How to Listen to God.
*How to Hear God's Voice.
*How to Recognize God's Voice.
Because as I look back on my own life I am confident
there were many times in my life when God ...
