When Hollywood wants to tell a love story they hire an attractive, likeable, female personality, like Rachel McAdams (The Notebook); or Julia Roberts (The Runaway Bride); or Robin Wright Penn (Message in a Bottle); or Sandra Bullock (While You Were Sleeping).

When God decided to tell a love story, he didn't choose a popular, female lead. He chose Hosea to love a woman who slept around. God gave Hosea an incredible ability to love, forgive, and love again.

Before I tell you his story, here's another story that every Purdue fan will appreciate. Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969 at 10:56 p.m. Armstrong is remembered for saying, ''One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.''

But, Armstrong said something else that few heard and nobody understood: ''Good luck, Mr. Gorsky.'' The guys at Mission Control didn't understand, either, but they wondered why Armstrong was laughing.

Armstrong refused to explain himself for over thirty years, but several years ago he was in Tampa, FL to receive an award and he was asked again. This time, he finally gave an explanation.

Mr. Gorsky was one of his boyhood neighbors. One day while playing baseball, a ball rolled into the Gorsky's garage and Armstrong overheard a heated exchange. Mr. Gorsky said, ''But honey, I need some lovin'!''

Mrs. Gorsky replied: ''Lovin'? You want some lovin'? Let me tell you something, buster. The day you get some lovin' is the day that kid next door walks on the moon!''

Armstrong said that he carried the weight of the nation on his shoulders as he descended that ladder. But, his only thought was on Mr. Gorsky. He wasn't worried about his safety; he was hoping that the Gorsky's stayed up late enough to watch the news!
