Question: I wonder how many of you have someone you count as a
true
friend--I mean a real friend? Someone you:
Have great confidence in
Love supremely
Trust explicitly
Confide in
Laugh with
Cry with
Hang out with
Can be yourself around
Can always count on--no matter what?
Most of us have a lot of acquaintances--and maybe some of these
might be close enough to us that we would call them friends.
But I suspect
most of us have very few people (maybe 1,2,3,5) who are really
ôsoul
mates.ö I mean really close, intimate companions.
And many of us would have to admit we donÆt have anyone like
that...not really.
Note: I think it is a fair assessment to say that men are
probably less likely to have this kind
of deep, close, abiding friendship with someone than women are.
Most men are simply
not built with the emotional equipment and social skills
necessary for that kind of
relationship.
And yet--I suspect all of us long--really long and hunger--for
that kind
of friend. We want and need someone we can call a true friend!
