The online parenting and pregnancy destination compiled some 500,000 names of babies born in 2017 and combined those that sound the same but have different spellings (such as Sophia and Sofia) to create a true measure of popularity.

Almost all of last year's top-10 darlings are still favorites this year. Sophia remains the top girls' name for the eighth year in a row, while Jackson still rules the roost as the top boy's name for the fifth year in a row.

BabyCenter released its list of top baby names for 2017 on Wednesday. There are many various listings of top baby names, but this came from BabyCenter:

''Sophia is shaping up to be THE girls' name of the decade. It has a lot going for it: It's feminine, lyrical, popular in many languages, and available in multiple spellings,'' Linda Murray, BabyCenter global editor in chief, said in a press statement. ''Jackson is having a great run on the boys' list. It's strong, masculine and modern.''

Amelia, the only new name to crack the top-10 ceiling for girls this year, claimed the number-10 spot. Grayson and Logan are new in the top-10 boys club.
