Question: Would you agree with me that this world is an
increasingly
impersonal world? And even though the population of our world
is
growing, and more and more people are living in closer and
closer
spaces...we are living further apart than ever before.

Ex:I grew up in the country where the nearest neighbor living a
mile or two away. But we
knew practically everyone in a 10-mile radius.

Now I have neighbors living just a few feet down my front door
in every direction and
I hardly know them. In fact, I donÆt even know the names of the
people who live
behind me--just a few feet (literally) from my kitchen table.

Ex:When I was a kid, we had a 8-party phone line. Someone was
on it all the time. All
you had to do to talk to a neighbor, or listen in on a neighborÆs
private business, was to
pick up the receiver.

Now, you can dial a home and about half the time, all you do is
talk to a machine.

Yes--we are living in a world that is growing increasingly
impersonal.
