Growing up there were things I hated to hear my parents say. Words like, it's time to clean your room, wash the dishes, mow the grass, weed the flower beds, pick up the pine cones or rake the yard would send a shiver up my spine and me looking for a place to hide. So, with those words, I would reluctantly and begrudgingly begin my assigned task. (I was not the most industrious child you had ever seen).

After hours in the yard or the room (it was that big of a mess at times) and believing my job to be done I would tell mom or dad. Then, it was time for the inspection. Mom would check the room or dad would survey the yard. At that point, after hours on the job, the one thing I did not want to hear, the one thing I hated to hear were the words ''you're not done yet.'' Inevitably, some part of the job would not have been completed to the satisfaction of the all-seeing and critical eye of my parents and it was back to work for me.

But oh, the joy that would come when they walked in (generally with a half-look of disgust, despair and resignation on their face) and say, ''Ok. Good enough. You're done. Go play.'' Those words, you're finished, were music to my ears. It felt like freedom. It felt like victory.

Many years ago, a father, The Father, sent His one and only Son into a world that was messed up, marred and ruined by sin. My sin. Your sin. He sent Him to restore a relationship that had been lost, our relationship with God.

- It was a relationship we had abandoned.
- We made the conscious decision to live life our way, apart from God.

It was a decision that invited death and placed us under the righteous judgment of God.

To remedy this and provide salvation and forgiveness, God sent Jesus. He taught us how to live. He showed us how to live. He lived His life perfectly. His teaching and His life were amazing but to clean up the mess our sin had made of this world and bring ho ...
