Question: Do you feel like our world is becoming more and more
an
impersonal world?
Do you ever feel like youÆre just a number in a database
somewhere?
Examples
1)You used to look forward to getting your mail because every
letter
was personalized and sent just for you. But now you can get a
letter
with your name printed on it--it looks so personal, warm and
inviting,
yet when you open it up, itÆs nothing but a form letter some
computer
coughed out.
Ex:I recently got a letter from Billy Graham with my name on it.
I thought, ôWow,
BillyÆs writing to me. I wonder what heÆs wanting?ö Then I opened
it, and it
was a form letter, probably 20,000 others got the same letter!
2)Have you tried to call a business or government office...or
even a
telephone operator lately? All you get are these dumb machines.
I
tried to call a friend at a large church in Texas recently and
discovered
they had installed an automated answering machine. It took 3
dial ups
for me to figure my way through the maze of that system to get
the
person I wanted.
