About Salvation (4 of 6)
Series: This We Believe

Ephesians 2:1-10
I invite you to open your bibles to Ephesians 2. My middle child is in her first year of college, and she's doing fantastic. We're very proud of her. But something happened to her early in the semester that I admit I wasn't quite unprepared for. She was seriously bitten by the country music bug.
It will take years of therapy to get over the damage that's been done to her brain. Anyone else bitten by that nasty, little country music bug? (Well, I hope what you have is not contagious. )
My in-laws live right outside of Missouri's mecca of country music, good ole Branson, USA.
So, we have to go, I mean, we get to go to a lot of shows that lean toward the pickin' and grinnin' crowd. One we go to a lot is The Dixie Stampede. Do you know who owns the Dixie Stampede? Yep, country music icon, Dolly Parton. I admit, Dolly seems like a really fun person who loves to entertain people, and doesn't take herself too serious. My favorite Dolly Parton quote is this (Pic and Quote):
''If I see something sagging, dragging, or bagging, I get it sucked, tucked, or plucked. It takes a lot of money to look as cheap as I do.''
Several years ago, Dolly wrote her autobiography. I didn't read it, but a quote from her on the back of the book did grab my attention. Dolly says this:
''I am not a very religious person- although I grew up with a very religious background. 'Let every man seek his own salvation' is one of my favorite scriptures...''.
Dolly may be a talented musician, but she is a horrible theologian. Do you know what's wrong with one of her favorite Bible verses? It's not in the Bible! Nothing in the Bible even close says that.
In fact, what the Bible actually says about salvation is the exact opposite of what Dolly thinks it says. So, the bottom line is God wants you to stay away from country music. Let's bow in our closing prayer. No, no, no. Just kidding!
