If you have your bible, lift it up? Awesome. To know this is to know the mind of God. To do this, is to do the will of God. To love this is to love the heart of God. So, bring your bible every week.

Go ahead and turn to 1 Cor. 1:10-17. The story is told of a pastor who was delivering a children's sermon about the need for unity in the church. He looked at the children and emphatically said, ''Kids, God wants us to be one!'' One four-year-old looked at him with protest and said, ''I've already been one, I want to be five!'' Being ''one'' isn't just a problem for children though is it? It can be a challenge for everyone, including the church. It's not a secret that churches are notorious for fighting, quarrelling, and splitting. And then doing it all over again.

Years ago, there was a town in Alabama where on one side of a rural road was a church named New Harmony Baptist Church, and right across the street is another church called New Harmony Baptist Church #2. Why? Because there wasn't enough harmony at New Harmony. Ha. So, the church split. Some of the members moved right across the street and started New Harmony #2.

Today, we're talking about what must be one of the clearest taught, yet most continually ignored commands of Scripture. And through the centuries, that oversight and disobedience has hurt millions of Christians, and killed thousands and thousands of churches. And what is that command of God to His church? BE UNIFIED. BE ONE. Bottom Line is this: Unity is mandatory for a church to be used mightily.

You might remember that the Corinthian Church was full of radically redeemed, extraordinarily gifted believers. Paul said they lacked no spiritual gift. When it came to serving God, they could do it all. But even though they had been miraculously rescued from hell by God's grace, and tremendously gifted to serve Christ with their life...o ...
