1 Corinthians 3:10-15
Get your bibles; we're going to be in 1 Cor. 3 today. If I could tell you with full assurance that one-year from today you are going to stand before Jesus at the Judgment Seat of Christ in heaven, what do you think your predominant feelings would be?
Would it be fear and dread thinking about all the bad things you've done in life?
Would it be joy and excitement because you're going to hear the Lord tell you how much He loves you?
Would it be sadness and sorrow because of the earthly things you might miss?
Or would you feel motivated and inspired to be focused on doing and obeying God's will for your life so you could as prepared as possible to stand before Christ with confidence?
Your answer to that question would probably have a lot to do with your understanding of what Judgment Day for Christians looks like right? I don't know about you, but for much of my Christian life going to the Judgment Seat of Christ sounded about as fun as being summoned to the principal's office in school. Remember those days? (cup hand over mouth) ''Yes, Mrs. Smith could you send Bobby Ingle to the principal's office please? The principal wants to have a word with him.'' You talk about fear/dread right? Immediately my mind started racing: ''What did he hear? How much does he know? Who saw me do it? Who told on me?'' In my mind as a kid, nothing ever good came from being called into the principal's office.
That's how many people think the Judgment Day for Christians is going to be. (cup hands over mouth) ''Yes, uh Angel Gabriel, could you send Julie Jones to the judgment seat of Christ!?''
