1 Samuel 17:46-47
Last time we introduced the idea of a revolution. This is something greater than any New Year's resolution! We looked at 2 Corinthians 5 and talked about being a risk-taker, leaving the status quo, being sick of the usual and looking for something powerful.
God is looking for some revolutionary people who do revolutionary things for Him. Talking about this story worries me a little bit because it's such a familiar story to most of us. My hope is that we move beyond the familiar and see the reality of what happened and the power that is available to us through Christ.
A revolutionary embraces the battle: 1-32
It's ok to fight for something worthwhile. I was a very compliant child growing up. I wanted people to like me; I never got into any fights or anything like that. But there are things that are worth fighting for; faith, family, freedom. The revolution is a different kind of battle!
Being a revolutionary person is not a safe occupation. God has not called us to live a life of ''safety.'' He's called us to live a life sold-out to Him.
regular person (brothers) revolutionary person (David)
I don't know about you, but I want to be a revolutionary person. I'm sick of being regular.
A revolutionary breaks the mold: 33-39
Let me encourage you not to be afraid to break the mold. *Do you remember the old Play Dough factories? Don't let the world squeeze you into its mold!*
Revolutionary people recognize the need for the new: The battle plan changes at times but the reason we fight never does. The methods sometimes change but the message never does. The truth is, we are NOT reaching our world right now. The number of people not attending church and not professing Christ is growing at an increasing rate.
We're losing the battle. ...new ways of communicating, reaching and living: This is not a new faith, but a new way to express it. ... ...
