Hebrews 11:32-40
Tell the story of how Stephanie and I met* It took faith to wait, to think that God has the right person out there, to find the right person, for Stephanie to say yes! You know, we talk a lot about faith but I'm not sure if we ever get a clear understanding of what faith really is.
You can't see faith inside a person. You can only see the results. So I would say, that a visual definition of faith is activity. It's acting on what God has called you to do. If you read the Bible you will notice over and over again that faith always expresses itself in some type of action, response or change. Faith is always at war inside of us with fear. There are so many things that we fear these days...even a TV show now dedicated to the idea of fear, Fear Factor.
*But in our spiritual life, fear is the enemy of faith. Faith says step, fear says stay; faith says believe, fear says doubt; faith calls for risk, fear longs for safety; faith says share what Christ has done, fear says stay silent for fear of criticism.*
So there's this battle that rages deep inside of all of us. A battle that ultimately will determine our obedience or disobedience to God's eternal plan for our lives. It's the battle of faith and fear. And it's up to us which one wins.
Do you want God to do something incredible in your life? It takes faith. Do you want God to do something beyond human ability or understanding? It starts with belief.
''We all want miracles and then spend our lives avoiding the context in which miracles happen.'' Well let's take a few moments today and begin to try and understand the kind of faith that God blesses; the kind of faith that moves us from the realm of the possible to the realm of the miracle.
