Matthew 28:1-15
Grab your bible and turn to Matthew 28. Let's be honest, resurrection is hard for humans to believe. To think that something or someone was completely dead and is now is somehow undeniably alive...that's hard to fathom. We've just never seen it. And we struggle to believe in something we've never seen before.
I read a true story of an older widow woman named Mrs. Claussen who had a pet bunny rabbit. She loved this little bunny rabbit, but the problem was that is often escaped from its cage and ran around the neighborhood, and she was afraid something would happen to it. One day, her neighbor boys were out in the backyard playing when along came Matt their dog trotting toward them with Mrs. Claussen's bunny hanging from its mouth. The bunny was obviously dead, and the kids didn't know what to do so they asked their dad for advice. Dad said, ''Bathe the rabbit, dry it, make it look really good, put it back in the cage, and she'll think it died of natural causes.'' The boys thought this was a great idea, so that's what they did. When Mrs. Claussen drove into her driveway, the boys watched through the slits in their fence to see her reaction. When she walked by the cage where the bunny was, she started screaming, hollering, yelling, and pointing at the cage. She genuinely freaked out.
So the boys told their mom, and they all hurried over to see her. They said, ''Mrs. Claussen are you ok?'' And between the sniffs, and sobs, and pointing at the cage, she said, ''But, but, but I don't understand. I buried that rabbit three days ago.'' Resurrection, in whatever form, is hard to believe. And yet, as hard as it is to believe, God made the resurrection of Jesus Christ the centerpiece and heartbeat of the Christian faith. Did you know that God has made it a requirement to believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus to go to heaven? We're going to look at a verse in a minute that says, ''If you confe ...
