Psalm 33:1-22
Intro/Attention
Last week we began a journey together. A journey that encompasses our daily devotion times, our Life Group times, and our worship times. It ranges from the smallest children to our oldest adults. And it will culminate in our church moving forward in unity to impact our community, nation, and world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
When I became your pastor in 2012 I told you that I believe we can change the world from Warner Robins, GA. I told you my prayer was that God would give us a ministry upon which the sun never sets. I told you that we are here to make an impact for Christ.
That hasn't changed. It never will. Through this summer study, Impact: 40 days of eternal significance, we will talk about what it means to make a greater impact for the Kingdom of God. Today, from Psalm 33, we will talk about Impacting Our Nation. We will study the entire chapter today but read just one verse. READ 33:12 - PRAY
Throughout history, time and eternity, this truth has been established. God blesses those who obey His Word. Whether it is an individual, a family, a church, or a nation, the hand of God is upon those who earnestly seek to please Him in all they do. America began as such a nation. Founding Fathers such as James Madison said ''we have staked our future upon the capacity of each of us to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.'' John Adams describes the purpose of America's existence in one sentence: ''The destiny of America is to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to all men, everywhere.'' Today ''in an American school, any person can say anything he wants to against God. But Heaven forbid that he say anything in God's favor.'' Where did we go wrong?
