Tonight, we come to the second to last message in our study through the Old Testament book of Judges. We have certainly seen some unlikely heroes as we've examined this book. Ultimately, what we see is the wickedness of man, and the faithfulness of God. In fact, that's exactly what we see in our lives as well.
A theme that runs through the book of Judges is summed up in a simple phrase, ''There was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.'' This phrase reminds us that when the Lord is not King of our hearts, we follow after our own pleasures or desires. Then we're headed for destruction.
Tonight, from Judges 17-18, I'm preaching on the subject, Dazed and Confused. When people are confused about the Word of God, it leads to corruption. And this corruption, if left unchecked, will ultimately lead to destruction. READ 17:1-6,
Alright, I have a confession to make. And for some of you, this is going to absolutely ruin your opinion of me. But, I have to be honest with you. I've never really been a big Star Wars fan. In fact, I just watched the first Star Wars movies like a year or two ago. I've just never been really interested. I know that for many people, these movies are the ultimate series. I also know that some folks have taken these things way to far and made their own religion out of the series. But here's one thing I do know about Star Wars. The movies that came out first, in the late 70's and early 80's were actually not the beginning of the story. The movies that came out in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's were actually numbers 1, 2, and 3 in the series. Did you know that? Of course you did. What does Star Wars have to do with Judges?
