Decided and Not Divided
Robert Walker
Matthew 7:13-14
You know as I look today I realize we live in an age of religion. There are over 500 million Catholics, over 300 million protestants, over 14 million jews, over 400 million Hindu's and over 400 million Buddaist.
Over 450 Million Moslems. These numbers are startling. And we look and we back off and we ask ourselves. Why? Why are there so many different religions. Why are there so many different churches?
Why are there so many different approaches to God. Now when we sort it all out it's probably because people everywhere are looking for peace.
Deep inside each one of us has that desperate yearning and longing to be at one with our makers. To be at one with the Universe. To be at one with ourselves and other people.
I believe I could say we all want peace. But what are we really longing for? When you think about it there are alot of different kinds of peace in our world today.
There in the past peace at the Berlin wall. There are armed guards and bob wire that enforce peace upon hate and fear. In the concentrations camps, Outswich Hitler tried to make peace with the Jews by killing more than 6 million in one of his horrible gas chambers.
In modern day Topeack they have a peace of tyrrany because they have been conquered by communist China without having a voice in the matter and they have peace but no freedom.
In the early centuries the Romans brought in peace to the whole world but they did it by making the world their personal slave.
What about the peace of the 21 First century. I call it synethic peace. The temporary peace of a tranquilizer or the peace of drugs and drink. What do you mean peace?
Christ knew this world in the last days would be a world of religion. Even the occults have a religion. I think Jesus knew we would be living in a world of religion.
And He said if you are really looking for peace and you really want peace there is only one way that can happen ...
