Please open your bible and turn to 1 Timothy. Let's be honest with each other. How many of you are pumped Christmas is near? How many of you are over it already? I enjoy just about everything about Christmas. I like candy canes, eggnog, ugly sweaters, and mistletoe. I enjoy Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas music, Christmas movies, Christmas parties, and, of course, Christmas gifts. I don't even mind jolly fat man in the red suit and funny hat.
But there is one thing I'm not crazy about this time of year, and it's the Christmas commercials.
Seems like some companies spend their entire advertising budget playing their commercials in December.
The commercials that drive me really batty are the Lexus car commercials. Every time I see one, I think, seriously? Are there really so many rich people in the world considering buying a $50,000 car for their significant other that the rest of us need to be subjected to a ridiculously phony commercial several hundred times? Seriously?
If you don't know or haven't seen these commercials, let me give you a brief description. You have these two beautiful people 'I have perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect teeth, never had bad breath or zit in my whole life' kind of people. They're in their mid-twenties, live in a mansion, and she gives him an iPhone, which would be a phenomenal Christmas gift right there, but no, that's just a little trinket. On the iPhone is a picture of a Lexus and then it starts playing the Lexus song, which apparently every rich person knows by heart because he instantly knows what it means.
They go outside and there in their beautiful, snowy driveway is a brand new car. He looks at her like 'you, silly, got me a car'. And she gives him kind of a side hug like 'Aw, shucks. It was nothing.'' I'm watch this thinking, 'Who are these people? Seriously, do people really respond like this when they've just been gi ...
