Revelation 2.12-17

Our study of GOD'S SPECIAL BOOK OF BLESSING
brings us to chapter 2 verse 12. So... take God's
Word and join me in Revelation chapter 2.
Did you know that God has promised you a special
blessing if you read, hear and keep the words of the
prophecy which means to live in light of what it says?
Revelation 1.3, "Blessed is he who reads and those who
hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things
which are written in it; for the time is near."
But not only a promise in the book from God...
but also a picture of the book from God. That is... a
picture of the entire book of Revelation. And that
picture is found in chapter 1.19, "Write the things
which you have seen (chapter 1... glory of Jesus) and
the things which are (chapters 2-3... grace of Jesus),
and the things which will take place after this
(chapters 4-22... the government of Jesus)."
And this morning we find ourselves in that "grace
of Jesus" section in chapter 2. These are the seven
churches of Asia... modern day Turkey. They were
seven literal churches. They represent seven kinds of
churches and church members. And within these seven
churches... you will find Roswell Street Baptist
Church as well as yourself.
Jesus had something to say to each of these
churches and Jesus has something to say to us. We
need to be like Samuel who said, "Speak, LORD, for
Your servant hears" (1 Samuel 3.9).
We need to be like the black preacher who walked
to the pulpit and began saying, "Yes... Yes... Yes...
Yes... Yes... Yes... Lord, now that's our answer, now
tell us what you want."
In Revelation 2.12... we find Jesus' words to the
church at Pergamos. Now if the church at Ephesus was
the Sidetracked Church and the church at Smyrna was
the Suffering Church... the church at Pergamos was...
