John 15:12-25
Turn to John 15. Over the last 10 years or so, Facebook has changed what it means to have a friend or be a friend. I checked on Thursday, and according to my Facebook profile, I now 1, 915 friends. Aren't you impressed? Even more impressive is that I'm close with every single one of them. Ha! Actually, as I scanned through the list, I had no idea who most of them were. But, according to Facebook, we are friends.
Not too long ago, I was looking for the Facebook page of one of my friends, and come to find out I'd been un-friended by them, and I didn't even know it. I wasn't even aware there was a problem between us. Has that ever happened to you? I was a little shocked so I went to them to find out why. And I'm pleased to announce, after some begging and pleading, my wife Jana re-friended me.
In a nationwide survey a few years ago, Americans where asked how many truly close friends they believe they have. That survey showed the average American feels like they have two close friends. Real friendship while it's scarce, it's extremely powerful. And the Bible agrees:

· Proverbs 18:24: ''... There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.''
· Proverbs 27:6: ''Wounds from a friend can be trusted...''.

Jesus is one day away from the cross. He is in His last moments with His beloved disciples who He's spent three years pouring His life into before He is voluntarily crucified as a substitutionary sacrifice for those He loves. Jesus looks around this circle of men who He knows soon will all betray Him and abandon Him, and what does He call them? We will see here in a moment He says, ''I no longer call you servants. Instead, I call you My f ...
