Reaching Our World

Matthew 9:35-38
Take a moment and pick up your local paper on any given week. It won't take you long to see that this world is in a lot of trouble. *With, the constant threat of terrorism, challenges from Iran, the problems facing Israel, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, violence and crime at home, it's clear to see that our world is in bad shape.*
It's no secret that our society is entrenched in a moral and spiritual struggle. It's no secret that the Christian faith is being attacked from every side. So what is the solution? Some would say that the only thing we can do is condemn the darkness. Others would say that we must simply isolate ourselves from the world and remain uninfected by its sin. But what's the answer? The answer is not to be above culture; the answer is not to simply condemn culture; the answer is to try to transform culture! This is why it's so important to reach our world. READ TEXT
Here in this passage, we see the heart and soul of Jesus. We see His compassion and commitment to people. He saw the people and His heart was moved with compassion for them because of His love for them. Our world is not much different than His world. People still need Jesus; the difference is, it is our responsibility to tell them about Him.
We've been given a challenge not to condemn our world or ignore our world, but to reach our world for Christ. Here in this passage we see three eternal truths about reaching our world.
1. The model for reaching our world: 35
Christ is our model in all things. And in verse 35 we see His compassion and commitment to those around Him. Christ met people where they were. He was out in the community, actively reaching and touching people. He was concerned about those around Him.
