Intro/Attention

Some people might call me a neat freak. Some people might call me a bit obsessive-compulsive, but being neat is very important to me. In fact, I'm so focused on being neat that I'm very careful not to eat or drink after anybody. Some people might call that obsessive-compulsive, but others, like myself, might say that I'm just careful about swapping germs with everyone in the free world. Honestly, I don't know how some of you do it; especially mothers.

I've seen my mom drink out of her glass of tea, then hand it to one of the little grandchildren and the slobber will be hanging from the glass to my niece's lips when she hands it back to mom. My mom won't think twice about taking a huge gulp of tea. That's unimaginable to me!

Now, knowing this about me, let me present to you a situation and then ask you a question. Imagine that I open the cupboard at home and inside there are two glasses. One glass is fine crystal, I mean it is beautiful. The other is a good, old fashioned, red Dixie cup. Of course, these glasses are different in the way they look and even the quality with which they were made. But imagine even further that I decide I'm going to take both the glasses out of the cupboard in order to decide which one to use. It's obvious that the crystal glass has been taken care of very well. It seems even to be hand washed and it is absolutely spotless. But, the Dixie cup is old, cracked, and it's got some old crust stuck on it from the mysterious remnants of the 24 year-old dishwasher. Now which cup do you think I'm going to use?

That's not even a question is it? Of course, I'm going to use the crystal glass. Not because it's crystal, but because it's clean. Not only that, but when the day is over and I've had my drink, the two cups are going to end up in a different place. One will be cleaned thoroughly and placed back in the cupboard and the other will quickly find its way to the ...
