A New Beginning

Happy New Year! The New Year is a time for new beginnings. Have you ever felt like you needed a new beginning? You just want to press the pause button on life and start over. Maybe you said something you shouldn't have said, or done something you shouldn't have done. All of us need a new beginning from time to time. Maybe an ''undo button'' for life. The New Year provides a natural time of beginning. We turn the page on our calendar and as we bring one year to a close, another brand new year is right in front of us. That's why we like to do resolutions; I'm going to be nicer, I'm going to be smarter, I'm going to be thinner, I'm going to be whatever.*
The New Year is a time for new beginnings; and God has brought us to a new beginning here at Second Baptist Church. I am excited about the journey we are embarking upon together. It's a new beginning, a fresh start. And I am excited to see all that God is going to do.
It's time for a new beginning. We must be committed to this new beginning. It must be a reality in our life and in our church. This is a new beginning- not in belief or behavior; but a new beginning in emphasis and experience.
Is. 43:18-19 says, ''Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.''
This tells us that we should leave the past behind, live in the present moment and look in faith and hope to the future.
A new beginning, a new start, a new you, a new opportunity, a new challenge, a new vision, a new passion, a new direction and a new burden. In marking this time, this day, this year and this moment as the point of new beginnings, there are some things that we will do as a result of the new beginning God has started in us.
